This is a cropped close up of the tall field version of the horsehead. I thought it might be interesting to crop it in a more classic composition.
This image uses a bi-colour technique developed by Steve Cannistra to synthesize a green channel by multiplying OIII and Ha with different weights.
Specs:
3.5 hours of Ha (10nm) and OIII (15nm) narrowband filters with a Pentax 300mm telephoto lens @f4, SBIG ST8i CCD, piggybacked to my 8" LX200GPS and guided using a Meade DSI and Maxim D/L. Data was captured on 2 nights from Jan 14, 2006 to Jan 16, 2006. Calibration and DDP in MaximDL, colour mixing and processing done with Photoshop CSII.
